I chose this career path because

Growing up my friends would always talk to me about their challenges - I've always been a good listener. I knew from early on I wanted to go into a field that would allow me to support and help others and solve problems. While I originally I thought I wanted to be an attorney, life took me in another direction and I have been in counseling for 38 years and coaching for 7 years. I decided to go into Psychological Counseling and found that I was guiding my clients by telling them how to move forward. I now emphasize coaching as a way to fix them and a way in which they hold themselves accountable for their decisions.

I also am an international speaker and I co-authored the book, "Live Your BEST Life - The time is NOW!".

I prepared for this career by

I received my Ph.D in Clinical Psychology, my Ph.D in Educational Psychology, and my MSc in Metaphysics from the University of Manchester.

Throughout the course of my career I have also received the following certifications:

● Certified Stephen Covey Trainer (7 Habits of Highly Effective People & Principal Centered Leadership)
● Certified Coach / Trainer - Leadership Skills - Rockhurst University
● Certified Leadership Trainer - NetResults Public Speaking / Coaching
● Certified Non-Profit Leadership Management Program
● Certified Neuro-Linguistic Programmer (NLP)

The biggest challenge I've overcome

Personally, my biggest challenge was juggling my career, my education, and my family. Luckily, I had a great support system in my husband and my parents. Additionally, in my ethnic community, there was a resistance to women being educated beyond the high school level that I had to overcome.

My greatest strength(s)

I value the mindset of all individuals and so my greatest strength is being able to create paradigms, or mind shifts, in people's perspectives therefore creating harmony in a person's way of thinking.

My greatest accomplishment to date

My greatest accomplishments, by far, my four children. I have three daughters and a son who are my pride and joy.

My personal/professional goals

I would like to see the younger generation develop leadership skills and soft skills early on in life, and I have aspirations to play in role in that. I have written several letters to Principals of schools in the area requesting to give presentations to their students and hope to begin doing that soon.

What/Who has inspired me the most

My grandchildren inspire me. They are so innovative and creative and they keep me informed about what is new and keep me on my toes.

I most want to be known/remembered for

Above all I want to be remembered for being a good Mom. As far as my work, and on a professional level, I want to be remembered for making a difference and elevating my clients to their highest potential.

I participate in the following organizations/memberships

  • Honored Member of the National Association of Distinguished Professional
  • Member and previous Board Member of the Toast Masters International

I have received the following Honors/Awards/Scholarships

  • Harvard Speaker, 2016
  • Nominated "Excellence in Life Coaching" - Elite Worldwide Women, 2016
  • Featured in "Women of Distinction" Magazine, 2015

I support the missions of these charities/volunteer my time

  • American Cancer Society
  • Susan G. Komen
