I chose this career path because
I have over 20 years of experience in personnel and talent management. I have always been passionate about people. When it comes to HR, it's about meeting the needs and the expectations of both the company and the employees, and my ability to achieve that balance and see the big picture is what has made me successful throughout my career.
I joined Bridges International in 2011, and in In 2017 I was promoted to Vice President and Chief Human Resource Manager. I knew that BI was the right fit when I realized and understood the mission of the organization.
I prepared for this career by
I prepared for my career while working as a Civilian Contractor for the Department of Defense. I started as a clerk in the HR department, and after realizing the freedom I wanted and my long-term goals I decided to pursue my education and get my degree. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management with a minor in Business Management from Virginia College.
The biggest challenge I've overcome
My biggest challenge as a mother of four has always been finding that balance of work and life and maintaining a level of tenacity for those who look up to me.
My greatest strength(s)
My greatest strength is that I am a servant leader.
My greatest accomplishment to date
My greatest accomplishment was making the decision to no longer depend on others and to go back to school to get my degree, all while raising 4 children and working full-time.
My personal/professional goals
My professional goal is to eventually own my own business. I want the ability to help young women open their eyes, understand who they are, and realize their greatest potential.
What/Who has inspired me the most
I am inspired by having grown up without "anything" but realizing that I had "everything". I am inspired by the good times and bad times and the lessons I've learned from both. And, most importantly, I am inspired by my children who changed my life and my world just by being in it.
I most want to be known/remembered for
I want to be remembered for never giving up because that wasn't an option for me.
