I chose this career path because
I have been in Healthcare for 15 years and the last 2 years at Texas Children's Hospital as a Clinical Nurse Coordinator. I always wanted to go into healthcare and started out on the Pre-Med Track and learned that physicians just did not have the same relationship with patients as nurses did. That is when I switched to Nursing.
I prepared for this career by
I attained a BSN through Prairie University College of Nursing in Houston and an MBA through Texas Women's UNiversity and I am an RN.
The biggest challenge I've overcome
The most challenging aspect in my career is obtaining leadership roles as a woman-it's who you know NOT what you know.
My greatest strength(s)
My greatest strengths are my ability to work well with others and empathizing with with families and patients.
My greatest accomplishment to date
My greatest accomplishments are graduating with a BSN and then an MBA.
My personal/professional goals
I feel that for 5-7 years I will, become a consultant then when near retirement, open and own my own Scrub Store. I am currently reaching out to my former Director who is a consultant to find out how to proceed.
What/Who has inspired me the most
I enjoy consulting and I am inspired by the thought of merging my MBA and Nursing degree and the prospect of flexibility , new challenges and traveling.
I most want to be known/remembered for
I want to be known as a determined trailblazer who took opportunities by the horns and ran with it.
