Sherry Boutin - DELEGATE, Medical Technologist,Medical Laboratory Scientist
About me
I have held various positions in healthcare, marketing, advertising, and education. I started in healthcare working full time as a med tech in a hospital, while teaching part-time in the evenings in a medical assistant program for 8 years. I then transitioned into the business arena where I did some marketing/advertising and sales for a few years, then circled my way back into the medical field, and was a supervisor in various capacities in a medical office and two other laboratories for about 12 years.
At the same time, I started self-studying various alternative medicine modalities and metaphysical topics, and fell in love with it. I had found the missing piece in my life. I have been on a long journey of spiritual self-development for many years, and am always searching for more knowledge in all areas of metaphysics, health, nutrition, energy medicine, etc. I am a certified Reiki Master, and have knowledge in herbal medicine, aromatherapy using essential oils, emotional freedom technique (EFT) also known as "tapping", life coaching, mentoring, Ayurvedic medicine principles, acupressure, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), etc. My medical background has given me an inside perspective on the scientific principles that some of the alternative medicine modalities are based on, and my teaching background has enabled me to explain the connections between mind/body/spirit in a unique way that most people can relate to and understand. I feel that I have truly found my calling in this area.
About my company
I started my own company, True Inspiration LLC, after a long journey with people who have guided me towards self-improvement and spiritual self-development. True Inspiration is a combination of alternative healing modalities and life coaching intended to help heal, mentor and educate people so they can improve every aspect of their lives. I am now also taking clients as a Natural Health Consultant, whereby I am teaching them natural ways to reduce or eliminate the underlying causes of many ailments, without the use of pharmaceuticals or fad dieting.
I chose this career path because
I was always into science and biology throughout grammar school and high school. It was just a natural progression that led me to go into the medical field.
I prepared for this career by
I have a BS in Medical Technology from the University of Connecticut and have worked in both hospital and medical office environments. I have been teaching/training people for over 25 yrs, either in the classroom or on-the-job, and it is my one true passion. In developing my LLC, I have become a Reiki Master and am studying for certifications in neuro-linguistics programming (NLP) , and have achieved certifications in the Law of Attraction, and HeartMath techniques (as a facilitator).
The biggest challenge I've overcome
My biggest challenge has been one of balancing work/home/relationships.
My greatest strength(s)
I am very organized, goal oriented, and great at multitasking. I have excellent coaching and teaching skills.
My greatest accomplishment to date
I used to teach in the medical assistant program at Morse School of Business and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was very accomplished in getting students to learn and not realizing how much they learned. It was very rewarding to hear my students tell me that they learned more in my class than they did in all their other classes combined !
My personal/professional goals
My dream is to get my LLC going . I have been working on developing True Inspiration LLC behind the scenes for several years. It is still a work in progress. Eventually, I want to have my own facility that would combine many alternative healing modality practitioners in one area.
In order to do that I am trying to build an individual client base as well as network with other practitioners, while increasing my certifications and getting more skills under my belt.
What/Who has inspired me the most
My inspiration is through my business - I love helping people. That includes through healing, mentoring and teaching and educating people to heal themselves.
I most want to be known/remembered for
I'd like to think that throughout a lifetime of teaching and coaching, people feel as if I truly and genuinely cared about them. There's an old saying that goes "people don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care". I have followed this principle for many years.
I participate in the following organizations/memberships
The American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science
I have received the following Honors/Awards/Scholarships
ASCLS Key to the Future
ASCLS Omicron Sigma Award
Morse 90+ Club Instructors' Award
