I have been an Adjunct Professor at The University of Delaware for over 14 years. I am currently teaching Management of Creativity and Innovation and Application Development of New Technology. I am also the CEO and Founder of the Mission Driven Innovation Group, a small consulting group addressing the innovation process in non-profit organizations.

I was an assistant professor at a university, and after having received my Ph.D. in Biochemistry I accepted a more lucrative position at Dupont in order to support my family. While I was happy with my decision because it was what was best for my family, I never lost my passion for teaching and working with students. When I was able, I returned to my career in education and began teaching at the University of Delaware.

At Dupont I was the CEO/Executive Director of the Product Development & Management Association and Director of Innovation Processes. I went into consulting as a result of the work I had done with respect to innovation at Dupont, which is still applied today. I realized that I could apply my expertise regarding the innovation process to help non-profit organizations succeed.

I received my Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo in Biochemistry and a New Product Development Certification through the Product Development Management Association. 

I went into science when there were very few women in the field, and I would say my biggest challenge throughout my professional career was being seen as a person, not a woman. Another challenge has been finding the right balance between my professional life and my personal life, building a successful career while raising a family is not easy.

My greatest strength is working with students and sharing my knowledge with students and non-profits.

I have had many great accomplishments; I helped install an innovation program at Dupont that is still being used today, I helped the Jewish Federation of Delaware make significant changes that improved the organization, and I co-authored a book with Bebe Nelson, PhD., New Product Development for Dummies (2008, John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Pub.). However, above all, my greatest achievement are my wonderful children: a son who is an Ordained Rabbi and Attorney working for Legal Aid, a son who is an engineer and video game designer, and a daughter who is in the Navy and a Pediatrician.

The Horn Program that I am a part of has doubled in size this year and has become more diverse. We now have attorneys and people from government teaching students and sharing information, and I look forward to seeing how that progresses. 

My goal is to teach as long as I can as an adjunct professor because I am passionate about education and watching my students succeed. I aspire to always to give my students 110% and be the best educator I can be, and toward that end I am constantly working to develop new courses and refine existing ones. 

My inspiration is to help make the world a better place. I have always pushed myself and I think a driving force behind motivation has always been my intolerance for injustice. A driven woman can do whatever a man can do. You can have it all, you just have to figure out how to manage it all. 

My legacy is my children. Additionally, I would like to be remembered for the volunteer work I have done, that dedication I had to my students, and for helping others.
