Pam Moore-O'Neill
I chose this career path because
I have been in entertainment since I was 3 years old! When I was young on sang on TV and did a lot of theater. I studied Opera and actually got a scholarship for music, but my father had other plans for me. He encouraged me to get out of music because he didn't feel it was a "real" job, and do I switched my major and found myself with a career in criminal justice.
I was working at Chester City Adult Probation and Parole as an Intake Coordinator when my life went in another direction. I was divorced and had two children, ages one and three, to provide for. In need a second source of income, I answered an ad for a mobile DJ and wound up with that company 10 years. I have been DJing ever since and how have over 20 years of experience!
I was constantly getting referrals and decided to open my own business, Moore Music, 16 years ago. The business has been a huge success and I now have 18 DJs working for me!
I prepared for this career by
I received a BA in Music with a concentration in Opera from West Chester State College. As far as my preparation for me DJing career, I started doing DJ work for family and friends over 20 years ago, and learned much of what I know about the business on-the-job and through experience.
The biggest challenge I've overcome
Being a woman in this industry is a challenge in it of itself. There are only 2 female DJs in the Tri-state Area.
My greatest strength(s)
Among my greatest strengths are sales, coordinating events, and weddings!
My greatest accomplishment to date
My greatest accomplishment has been seeing my daughters, Jennifer and Samantha, grow up in the business.
My personal/professional goals
My goal is not to be DJing when I am 90 years old. I would like to hand down the business to my kids or grandchild or perhaps sell the company.
What/Who has inspired me the most
What inspires me most are the brides and grooms I work for. Being a big part of such a special day in their lives, and helping make their wedding everything they dreamed it would be is what I love most about what I do.
I most want to be known/remembered for
I want to be remembered as a great DJ and person, and for being a Christian woman.
