Michele Davis, MPA
I chose this career path because
I have worked in various departments of the local government of the city of Redding as a management Analyst for 23 years. I am currently working for the Redding Police Department.
I was brought up in a family of public servants, as my father was a teacher and my mother a social worker. We were brought up knowing the importance of giving back to the community and in many ways this career felt like a calling.
I prepared for this career by
I received my Master's in Public Administration and my Bachelor's in Public Administration from San Diego State University.
The biggest challenge I've overcome
My biggest challenge has been balancing my professional life and personal life. I am married 27 years and have two sons who are now grown. I have had health challenges including diabetes and won the fight over breast cancer, all while balancing my work and personal life.
My greatest strength(s)
I have an abundant amount of compassion and I care deeply about that work I do; I fully submerge myself into every project and give everything my all. I am also problem solver and believe in empowering others, especially women.
My greatest accomplishment to date
My greatest accomplishment has been raising two sons to value and respect all people, especially women, and to always do the right thing. They are genuinely good men and I am tremendously proud of them.
My personal/professional goals
I would really love to start a Foundation for Diabetes and help to educate the population, especially children and seniors, about health and diet. I see so many problems in our insurance and healthcare system and I would like to become an advocate for change.
What/Who has inspired me the most
What inspires me is the possibility of improving people's lives and seeing people who need advocacy because they can not advocate for themselves. Sharing information and research that positively impacts someone's life inspires me.
I most want to be known/remembered for
I want to be remembered for impacting the lives of others for the better, and for being a go-getter. I would like my legacy to be that of compassion and positive change.
I support the missions of these charities/volunteer my time
