My grandmother was a teacher, and I saw what she did, and while teaching was not my first profession, I really got into the profession to help my Autistic son, so that I could better understand what he needed and "speak the language," and learn what he needed.   And, that is when I found my true passion was to help young people - I truly enjoy working woth them. I taught for many years when the combination of an injury on the job and my mother's health pulled me out of the classroom for several years. In 2016, after my mom's passing I felt a pull back to the classroom and began the steps for my recertification, which is not an easy task, I needed to amass one year in a classroom and am now preparing for the rigorous course of exams I need to take to return to the classroom. This is where I found my passion to help as many students as I can graduate in order to put them on a career path. 

I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and my Masters of Arts degree in Education from the University of Phoenix. 

Being a single mother of both a son and a daughter, working full time while pursuing my degrees, was the biggest challenge I overcame. It was certainly a struggle to juggle it all. 

I have a positive outlook,  I am persistent and I am truly passionate about helping the students. 

Finishing both degrees in record breaking time while caring for my children and working full time is what I am most proud of!

This past year has been marked with a tremendous amount of personal growth and in turn I have gained the confidence I need to do work that counts. My ultimate goal is to complete a second Masters degree, although I am not sure whether I will pursue it in Sociology or in Psychology. 

My mother, she was my staunchest supporter and my toughest critic. She set the bar high and II consider myself fortunate for her to consider me her biggest overachiever! I also am inspired by the success of my students. 

I want to be remembered for helping as many kids as possible to graduate, someone who showed them that the road to prosperity was knowing how to read and understanding mathematics!

I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend fishing, and visiting with the family and grandchildren. I like to swiim and go out with friends.
