Marisa Moeller, Ph.D, CHt.
I chose this career path because
I was right out of school when a friend of mine who worked for the City called me about a position with DSS. Trained in the field and growing up emersed in the arts, I accepted the position. I soon found that I was passionate about working with patients and taking an a more holistic approach and providing alternatives to traditional treament. It is my calling to help people and help them love themselves for their uniqueness. Eventually I found my niche in working with many people in the artistic community in New York City. My husband and I moved to Westchester County just north of the City and found a huge community of artists and after the birth of my daughter opened my practice.
I prepared for this career by
I completed my undergraduate degree through City College in New York and obtained my Masters degree from St. John's University. I received my Ph.D from the University of Arizona.
The biggest challenge I've overcome
The biggest challenge for me is to not do anything! Of course the challenge of balancing a career and family, and the demands of each is always a struggle. I have been able to not only home school my daughter, but give my self the flexibility to see my patients.
My greatest strength(s)
My greatest strength is the ability to actively listen and remember.
My greatest accomplishment to date
My greatest accomplishment is my daughter, who is now 16. She is a great person who is home schooled, I put her first and worked my career around her schedule, and I still do,
My personal/professional goals
I have recently expanded my practice by offering alternative therapies. I would l like to continue to grow in the Hudson-Valley area and reach more people. We offer complimentary services including massage and aroma therapy and reiki. I am hoping to become more visible so that we can impact more lives and offer Raindrop Therapy. On the non clinical side, I am hoping to expand my antique business with my husband.
What/Who has inspired me the most
My parents have ignited my passion for life and living it to the fullest by providing my sister and I with the a never ending system of support and the ability to travel around anywhere and pursue our dreams.
I most want to be known/remembered for
I hope to be known and remembered for being the person that gave everyone who's life I touched the ability to look at themselves and see their uniqueness, and know that they are special and important.
