My specialty is computational physics. I have worked at LANL for 23 years and was working in a particular program until last year. I now work in a stockpile related project within a content area working on system integration.

I went into engineering because of my interest in Math and Science. A teacher suggested that Engineering provides both. I attended 2 two week long programs at Michigan Tech. They wanted to attract more women towards STEM. I enjoy working in this field.

I obtained my M.S. and Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of California, San Diego in Engineering Sciences (Mechanical Engineering). I also received a Fellowship from the National Science Foundation and from ASSERT. I obtained my Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University.

My personality as a female makes me tend to want to get along with people. I am not opinionated and because they may feel I have "no fire in my belly" they mistake they make is judging me rather than seeing what I CAN do. I have emotional intelligence which many people in this field do not have.

My strengths include my emotional intelligence and my ability to get people to work together. I am also very effective with both line management and project management.

My greatest accomplishment so far was 11 years ago when I hosted a classified conference with over 400 attendees. I did all the preplanning. I started in the field as an extremely introverted person. At the conference I did presentations and as host I was up in front of people.

I would like to get back into line management and work on impacting the program. I eventually would like to move up at LANL or get out , perhaps into a different field. If  I did move up the next step would be Deputy Division Group Leader.

I have opportunities out there and I also see a pathway where I can go into line management within the laboratory.

People inspire me. I like the people I work with and I feel like I am accomplishing something by helping others accomplish their goals.

I want to be remembered as a good person who helped others get things done.
