Lauren Tait, PMP
I chose this career path because
I was a Project Manager and coordinator for Miele and was about to retire from that position. Rather then retiring I moved into the role of Property Manager, which I love because it allows me to use my project management skills in congruence with other skills and abilities I have developed. I have been in this role for the past 5 years.
I prepared for this career by
I received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration in Management and Operations from Georgian Court College and my Professional Project Management Certification (PMP) from The Project Management Institute.
The biggest challenge I've overcome
In property management I remotely manage some properties, however in Princeton I have to deal with men all day long. My challenge is being seen as a professional in a male dominated industry and profession.
My greatest strength(s)
My strengths include my abilities to make decisions and to take quick action in solving problems.
My greatest accomplishment to date
When I took the position of Property Manager, I was strong and able to put forth the value I added to the position and what I could bring to the table. There were a lot of men who wanted the position and it went to me.
My personal/professional goals
My short term goal is to obtain more training from The International Association of Professional Facilitators. I am planning workshops, and down the road I want to start a Facilitator Company to create active listening and development within companies, in order for them to plan workshops and meetings.
My boss is involved in ensuring training through a consultant. I need to gain more experience with larger workshops and get more certifications. Then I will need to build my client base and do more networking.
What/Who has inspired me the most
What inspires me is my love of learning new things and my quest for knowledge. As a facilitator, I am inspired to become an agent of change and cultivate collaboration within companies.
I most want to be known/remembered for
I would want to be remembered as a woman who, despite health and physical setbacks, was always helpful and kind to others.
