I chose this career because I am passionate about education and learning. I enjoy working with the students, coaching and mentoring them. I was promoted to my current position of Assistant Professor of English & Communication in 2012 and I also serve as an advisor. I have been in higher education for 15 years.

I received a Master of Arts in English, Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Purdue University. I also worked with mentors which helped me get ready for the classroom. 

My biggest challenge is to have under- served student issues, the basic things they need, like transportation understood by others. These issues just make it harder for students to focus.

My greatest strength is working directly with students on a one to one and working on their issues and needs.

My greatest accomplishment is completing my degree, working with students and having those students being selected for academic awards and receive scholarships. I want to help students reach their goals, their dreams and be their coach and encouragement.

My professional goal is to be an administrator in higher education but I am not ready to give up the classroom and work with students.

I am inspired by each semester, having a new group of students, helping them reach their goals and having that chance to make a difference.

I want to be remembered as the person who made a difference for students and the other lives I have touched.

I enjoy spending time with family, music and sports.
