She chose this career path because while she was in college, she had an English literature professor whom she admired, and she wanted to follow in her footsteps.

She prepared for this position by obtaining a Master of Education, Master of Arts and Education Specialist degree.

The biggest challenge she has had to overcome was witnessing that not all students receive the same type of support.

Her greatest strength is that she is able to diagnose and evaluate students to evaluate their skills and find the appropriate resources for them.

Her greatest accomplishment to date is that she has motivated students who tell her that she has made a difference in their lives.

Her personal goal is to complete a PhD, write, and do research.

Her inspiration has comes from her parents and her faith.

She wants to be remembered as a person who tried to share Christ with others, and inspired people to fulfill their own lives.

She participates in the Golden Circle Optimists Club, the Wilson Woman's Club, the International Literacy Association, and is on the Board of Directors for the Mental Health Association. She is also an Elder at her church.

She has received the Johnston Community College Student Award, two Johnson County Teaching Awards and two church awards, one for youth and one for music, in recognition of her years of service.

She supports the ASPCA, the Humane Society, the American Heart Association, the Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Association, thee Mental Health Association, as well as a number of her church's charities.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and reading.
