Although my education was in science, I've always loved to work with people.  It's very natural that I was drawn to the customer-facing side of science early in my career.  The process of discovering, learning and finding resources for people is my biggest reward, whether it's to address a professional training need, help solve a scientific problem, or to help devise a new tool to address a broader industry need. 

Absorption Systems develops and implements research tools that allow our customers to better predict human outcomes. We work with a wide variety of customers in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, including small virtual pharma companies, large pharma companies with weekly programs, and specialty CROs looking for services that complement their own offerings. Our flexibility allows us to adapt to the needs of each customer.

We believe that projects should be viewed as a collaboration, which allows us to work with you to design studies and develop custom models when necessary. This collaborative approach has resulted in the generation of several innovative models to aid in drug discovery and development, through working partnerships within the industry and with regulatory agencies.

My passion for science and people fit well with this career, which, in truth, chose me.

In preparation for my career, I attended the University of Missouri - Rolla, where I received a B.S. in Life Sciences. Throughout my career I have also received a great deal of on-the-job-training, am self-taught in numerous software applications, and attended many training workshops in areas such as drug metabolism, drug safety, animal handling, GLP certification, etc.  My motto: never stop learning.

The biggest challenge I have is expecting more of myself; I'm finding that I'm a pretty tough customer to please.  Once I feel satisfied that I've reached a high level of competence in my work, I look for the next step for personal and professional growth. 

I am a life-long learner and a relater.  Skilled at listening, I can connect the dots and introduce people to a resource to address their needs. This liaison role leverages my communication skills and paves the way for productive discussions at any level.

Daring to think outside of the box in a "check-the-box" world.

This kind of thinking has allowed me to lead re-branding initiatives, create industry awareness on core capabilities, strengthen client relationships, share information in interactive and memorable ways, and spur cross-functional teams to come up with creative solutions to support customer needs.

I would like to retire to a creative outlet, although I'm not sure what medium will best convey my messages just yet.  In the meantime, I enjoy trying them all as they present themselves to me.  I recently created a mini-documentary film (available on Vimeo) titled, "The Art of Expression," which was awarded second place in a competition, airing on the Kansas City public television station in support of local artists. I also volunteered on several small film crews, acting as script manager, script writer, art director, and actor.  I am the executive producer of the "Visions of Poe" music CD (www.esotronics.org), and have recently started to write a book series geared toward young female readers.

My parents always supported my endeavors, whether it was academic, sports, music, art, theater, or other extra-curricular activities.  At the same time, they nourished my strong aptitude for science and math as a practical pursuit.  They both exampled a strong work ethic balanced with creative outlets, showing me that my only limitations are those which I create myself.

I want to be remembered for my contributions to the initiatives in which I've been a part. Whether it's my own project or part of a group effort, I want people to say, "isn't that clever" or "what a great idea!"
