I stumbled upon the field of Trade Compliance over 20 years ago by accident.  While still putting myself through undergraduate school as an accounting major, I was working with an employment agent who got me an interview with a small Italian importer who was looking for an entry level account manager, who spoke Italian and knew Lotus 123. So with just 6 credits in accounting at the time, I got the job! From there, I fell in love with international business, shipping, import/export.  20+ years later, the rest is history!

I received my MBA from the University of New Haven, and went on to become a Licensed US Customs Broker. Additionally, throughout the course of my career I have attended many trade compliance trainings, including Incoterms,  NAFTA, various Import and Export seminars and webinars,  and have always sought ways to continue my education with trade related opportunities.

My biggest challenge as a professional woman is climbing that corporate later and breaking the glass ceiling. While not quite there yet, I do feel that I have proven myself as a trusted, respected subject matter expert and I am sought out for my expert opinion on various projects and endeavors that the Business might be contemplating.

I feel I am very engaging and am an effective communicator. I have built a reputation as a competent subject matter expert, and people trust me to advise them compliantly.  I know how to create momentum to get things going. Additionally, I am very passionate about my work and I love to teach and train others on my subject matter.

A number of years ago I was invited as a subject matter expert, to give joint training with US Customs and Border Protection. I traveled to multiple cities, training the Trade with Customs National Import Specialists on various topics of national interest.

My long term goal includes staying with Pitney Bowes, and eventually taking on a directorship role within the company. To that end, I am networking more within the company and within the industry and making every effort to learn everything I can about our products and the intricacies of the business.

I am inspired by the passion I have for what I do and for finding solutions when others find problems or challenges. The people who have inspired me the most have been kind managers who trust and respect me for my expertise, and give constructive criticism with a smile.

I want to be remembered for leaving things better than how I found them in all aspects. I intend to document everything and leave those that come after me useful and thorough information to ensure that I play as much a role in their success as possible.

I am a musician - playing the Bassoon, Flute and Piano,  and I watch and attend NASCAR racing events with my 13-year old (step) grandson, who presently drives professionally. (yes, he gets paid to drive his Legend race car!)
