About my company
As a member of the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Division of Continuing Studies Educational Innovation team, I have presented nationally and internationally on topics related to technology and education, and more recently taught game design and development at UW-Stout. With degrees in advertising design and photography, a MFA in web and interactive design, and advanced coursework in education technology, I have worked, taught, and presented in these areas and brings more than 20 years of educational web and interactive design experience to the team. My research interests include emerging technologies, games for learning, community building, and student engagement in online learning.
I chose this career path because
I hold degrees in Graphic Design and Photography, and a MFA in Interactive Forms; I have taught in these areas, and worked professionally as a Web Designer, and Online Multimedia Course Developer for over 20 years. I also hold advanced PhD. credits in Education Technology.
I prepared for this career by
As a graduate student, I worked for the Center on Education & Work developing the first CD-ROM-based career information system in the country. In 1996, I worked at what would become UW-Learning Innovations where I helped to pioneer online course development, creating the first online Dance course, and the first Learning Space course at the University of Wisconsin. I have worked as a Technology-Based Curriculum Designer at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where I developed various Websites and spearheaded the campus wide e-portfolio initiative for a Title III grant. More recently, I taught Game Design and Development providing instruction in the award winning interdisciplinary program there. I currently work for the Division of Continuing Studies where I design and develop non-credit and graduate program online workshops and courses, and I am currently working on the university's first online doctoral program.
