As the Market Director of Humana, I am responsible for a series of backroom functions.  I support the Shared Services, which includes contracting specialty, network development, credentialing and licensing, client data integrity, and the continuous improvement team reports to me for all medical centers.

Humana Inc. is an American health insurance company based in Louisville, Kentucky. Well-being is at our core. We believe our role in the insurance industry is to shift perceptions and move beyond being simply a provider. To that end, we work to empower our members and help them live healthy, active and rewarding lives.

I sort of fell into managed care in 1981. I graduate with a degree in Political Science with plans to become an attorney, but after consideration I didn't feel it was the right fit for me.

I had to work and started exploring other options. I was recruited by the state of Massachusetts to work on Medicaid and in preventing mandatory enrollment.

I decided to explore the realm of Human Resources and was mentored by a wonderful professor of mine, who also happened to the Dean of Human Resources and Health Services. I told her my mother was a nurse and I enjoyed Labor Law and Benefits, so she suggested that I look into Health Services Administration.

My preparation has been a combination of both formal education and experience. I received an M.S. in Health Services from Lesley University and did an internship at University of Miami in the Department of Psychiatry. Throughout my career I have received a great deal of on-the-job training and explored many opportunities that have all prepared me for the position I hold today.

My greatest challenge personally has been balancing family and work. 

Professionally, we live in man's world, and throughout the course of my career I have experienced many challenges as a result. As a woman, I have experienced being compensated differently for the same experience and work, and have had to break through barriers and glass ceilings to get where I am.

My greatest strength is that I am a great facilitator and I try to see things from the middle point. I am a peacemaker and I always try to put myself in the other's position and try not to be judgmental. 

My greatest accomplishment is my wonderful daughter.

My mother suffers from Alzheimer's Disease and moved in with me this year, so for right now that is my main priority. In the future, I hope to have the freedom to delve into my vision for creating a women's shelter that provides education, security, and develops skills.

My faith in God and my family inspire me most.

I want to be remembered for making a difference for women who are trying to attain emotional freedom and do what they love.
