I pursued my studies in economics and began as a labor economist. From there I migrated into the realm of labor and human benefits. I moved into academia and received various grants, which lead me to the study of healthcare and healthcare systems. My expertise is in health economics, medical technology, aging; end-of-life care, palliative care, and health policy. 

I truly found my passion, and today I am an Associate Professor of Health Policy, Management, and Behavior at the University at Albany, SUNY. Since 2014, I have been the director of the university Institute for Health System Evaluation.

In addition to field work and international travel, I received my Doctoral, Master's and Bachelor's Degrees all from the State University of New York at Albany. 

Finding the right balance between family and career has been my greatest challenge. Early on there where was a lot of traveling nationally and internationally. I was fortunate enough that on some of the trips I could bring my family, but there was coordination involved with that as well. 

Mentoring others is one of my greatest strengths.

My accomplishments go beyond the work and the recognition and rewards I have received. I have had a great career and have been truly blessed, but I would have to say my greatest accomplishment to date is being a mom to my teenage son, Jack. When Jack was just 9 years old he received a Congressional Commendation for developing a backpack program with a young man from Florida and he is currently working on his Eagle Scout project! He continues to amaze me with his accomplishments and makes me beam with pride.

We just received a huge contract for the Institution, and I would like to see more contracts to form a national and international collaboration to grow the Institution. 

My partner Bill. He is a brilliant business man and works in the private sector. He questions everything and brings me his unique perspective, which is outside the political realm.

I want to be remembered as a reformer - Someone who had to make things better.
