About me
I am a burn survivor. I speak at different conferences about burn survival. I am the author of "Silently Weeping", my biography of burn survival, rape survival and abuse.
About my company
The Canadian Burn Survivors Community (CBSC) is a community comprised of burn survivors, fire-fighters, burn unit staff, and advisors who have come together to offer support and education to any person or people that have been affected by burns.
Our main objectives is to help support the development of the psychological well being of burn survivors in Canada, support the sharing of materials and programs to educate our citizens in the prevention of burns in Canada, and encourage professional development of firefighters, health care providers and anyone affected by the trauma of burns in Canada.
I chose this career path because
I have experienced the trauma of being a burn victim.
The biggest challenge I've overcome
Regaining my self esteem after so many years of sitting in the background, thinking no one could see me or hear me
My greatest strength(s)
I am patient, caring, giving and to sum it up, I have a big heart.
My greatest accomplishment to date
I have made the journey from victim to survivor.
My personal/professional goals
I would like to see burn survivors have one contact like a national data base that could give them all the support information they need.
