I chose this career path because I knew at a young age I wanted to be in nursing. 

Much of my preparation stemmed from my formal education. I received a college preparatory degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Temple University. With the encouragement and support of my wonderful husband I continued my education and went on to receive two master's degrees, one in education and the other in nursing, and a doctorate in education administration from Lehigh University.

The biggest challenge I've overcome was taking a job with a brand new hospital. I do like to be involved in new endeavors but it was difficult being the Director of Nursing of a hospital just opening. I had to write policies and procedures that met strict requirements and it was quite an undertaking. 

My greatest strength is mentoring and encouraging my staff to continue their education. I've taught class and I believe that is my strongest value.

My greatest accomplishment is raising my daughter who is now a pediatrician. 

I am retired but my goal is to continue mentoring as I have for many years. I am very involved in the Good Shepard Rehabilitation Hospital and set up a scholarship in support of nursing education and excellence.

My mother was a strong woman and a hard worker. She went into business at a very young age and has always been a great source of my inspiration.

I most want to be remembered for helping nurses to continue their education. 

I am very active in the Rotary.

I was the first Director of Public Health Nursing of Allentown and Bethlehem Pennsylvania. 

I support the Good Shepard Rehabilitation Hospital.
