I chose this career path because
Cheryl wanted to be a physical therapist ever since she was 7-years-old. She decided on this career path while watching the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon and declared, to her mother, her desire to help children. When she was 14 she went to work as a volunteer at a local community hospital.
I prepared for this career by
She received her BA from Stony Brook University and another BS in Physical Therapy from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She received her MBA from NYIT and in 2007, received her Doctror of Health Sciences degree. She moved into academia to instill in her students the high standards of quality of care.
The biggest challenge I've overcome
Her biggest challenge is the work life balance.
My greatest strength(s)
Cheryl's greatest strengths are her time management skills and her flexibility.
My greatest accomplishment to date
Her greatest accomplishment is managing a career and raising her child who is grounded and can see the benefits of being a working mom.
My personal/professional goals
Cheryl's goal is to maintain a balance between her personal and professional responsibilities. In addition, she would like to continue to develop her research interests in the Scholarship of teaching and education. In order to stay connected to her students, she has conducted video conferencing with the students while the are in the field utilizing Skype. Cheryl would like to do more presentations at national conferences by developing research projects and disseminating her work in peer-reviewed arenas.
What/Who has inspired me the most
Her inspiration is her mom who always said "no matter what, have a profession and love what you do".
I most want to be known/remembered for
Cheryl would like to be remembered for her ability to keep all the balls in the air and being a devoted mom, spouse and teacher.

She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and is a board certified Pediatric Clinical Specialist by the APTA American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She is a member of the APTA Sections in Pediatrics and Education.

In 2014, ahe received the Dean's Service Award at NYIT in the School Health Professions.

She devotes her time to the PTA and is a Religious Education teacher.
