I was an Assistant Director for Michigan Small Business Development Center where I was responsible for training people on taxation and tax preparation, and I loved what I was doing! My position that was funded by two grants, one from Wayne State University and the other from the Small Business Association. Wayne State pulled their portion of the grant and I was left without a job.

I was determined to never find myself in that situation again, and so I decided to go into a business that would not simply go away. Knowing that taxes are one of life's certainties, I stayed within that realm and was inspired to start Accurai3 in 2009. I started with a few clients, mainly family and friends, and have since grown to 25 clients and counting. I am also a Business Officer at Wayne State University. In order to grow my own business I am having a Seminar on taxes in August. 

I received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Speech, English, and Science from Walsh College and went on to obtain a Master's of Science degree in Taxation. Throughout the course of my career I have taken various courses on taxation, a handful from Davenport University. I sat for the CPA exam and will be doing so again this year.

When my son was 11 years old, I wanted to go to Harvard to get my MBA, however my husband would not support me in that effort and I worried he would leave me if I pursued it so I put that dream on hold. We wound up getting a divorce despite not having gone to Harvard, and that was a challenging time in my life.

Another huge challenge I overcame was having lost my job with the Michigan Small Business Development Center. I thought I would be there forever, and it felt like someone ripped the rug right out from under me. It required a lot of soul searching to bounce back from that, but I landed on two feet and today I am thriving.

 I am very personable, I love working with people and I have great interpersonal skills. I am also a good listener and I stay positive!

My greatest accomplishment so far is achieving my Master's in Taxation while working full-time. I took evening classes and ironically was writin briefs, as we were working with the same material attorneys do, and had no social life, but I reached my goal!

I have a vision board that I look at every day that inspires me to push forward. My goal is to grow my company to the point that I have a staff working for me and multiple locations. I eventually plan on moving to a Resort Living community in Arizona for ages 55+ and starting my business there as well as Michigan. I am passionate about teaching people how to prepare their taxes, and also have plans to market a tax game that I created! I also really hope to get married again.

 I am inspired by my belief in God and have had a closer walk with Him since my divorce. He gave me vitality, youthfulness and fortitude.

I want to be remembered for reaching out to others and helping them to change their life in a positive way.
