After receiving my Bachelor's degree in Education, I began my career as a teacher and taught for 5 years. I took a break from teaching when I had my children, and when I tried to get back into it there was a shortage of teaching jobs. It was then that I took a leap and applied for a position with a mortgage company, and the rest is history! I have been in the consumer financing industry for 40 years, and have owned my own company, rjbWalzak Consulting, Inc., for the last 15 years. I specialize in Operational Risk Management, Quality Control for originations and servicing and Enterprise Risk Management. 

I spent my first 12 years in the mortgage and financial industry absorbing and learning a great deal through exposure and on-the-job training. I then went back to school and received my MBA from the University of Maryland, College  Park and became a Certified Quality Manager (CQM) through George Washington University.

Being that this industry is still so heavily male dominated, my biggest challenge in getting to the next level.

My great strength is that I am a blue-sky thinker, in that I think outside of the box and find creative solutions for problems. Additionally, I am a strong leader, quick learner, and an effective communicator, both verbally and written - I have written many articles for industry magazines.

My greatest accomplishment to date is the risk model that I developed, which is patent-pending. It identifies mistakes where your mortgage product determines a score to price a loan for risk and it changes the risk profile of the loan, effectively managing the risk.

My professional goals are to finalize my patent, get more into operations, and hold public-speaking engagements on artificial intelligence.

This industry and my career are my passions. I am inspired growth and innovation and by my drive to promote and provoke positive changes.

I want to be remembered as someone who saw beyond the "here and now" and saw to make a change.

I am a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and on the Board of Directors for the Local Mortgage Bankers Association.

I support Soroptimists International and Road Runners.

I enjoy reading, running, traveling and spending time with my husband, grandchildren and family.
