Kathie Anderson - DELEGATE, L.S.W., M.Ed
My career spans a total of 30 years in the educational field. I spent 20 years as a Licensed Social Worker and another 10 years in Instructional Behavior Disorders with children in a school setting.
About my company
I worked in the public schools in the state of Minnesota, helping children with social skills. I also worked as a Professional Counselor in the area of chemical dependency, in women's prisons.
I chose this career path because
I chose this career path because I always wanted to help others struggling with social issues and I have always been good at reading body language to get at the root of certain problems.
I prepared for this career by
I prepared for this career by earning my L.S.W. (Licensed Social Worker), becoming a Chemical Dependency Counselor and earning my M.Ed (Masters degree in Education) .
The biggest challenge I've overcome
M y biggest challenge I overcame was dealing with physical violence and de-escalating many situations.
My greatest strength(s)
My greatest strength has always been in having a good perception of people, reading body language and my people skills.
My greatest accomplishment to date
I felt my great accomplishment was when a student came back to me after a period of 20 years later, to share how instrumental I was in her graduating from high school and going on the become a teacher.
My personal/professional goals
My professional goals include to become more active in the LION's program in my community and the schools.
What/Who has inspired me the most
I have always been inspired by the students to dedicate the many years of service that I have given. It was important to make as big of an impact in the children's lives as I could.
I most want to be known/remembered for
I most want to be remembered for not ever giving up on the students and that I made a difference.
I participate in the following organizations/memberships
In retirement, I am involved with the LION's Program and continue to make a difference in the lives of kids.
I support the missions of these charities/volunteer my time
I support the charitable mission of my church and I am active in the Snap Back Program, which provides food to make meals for families on the weekend.
I enjoy the following hobbies/interests
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and family and spending time in my flower & vegetable garden.
