About me
My husband, Harvey, and I started Insight to Recovery. We work with people overcoming addiction. I recently started a non-profit, Advocates for Insight & Hope, in the hopes of implementing programs in the schools, Elementary through High School, that will foster compassion and develop a strong sense of self to prevent the pitfalls that cause addiction.
I am now working for A Safe Harbour Eating Disorder,IOP, as Director of Business Development.
About my company
At Insight to Recovery clients gain the opportunity to experience a wide range of addiction treatment services at the hands of skilled, compassionate licensed specialists, fostering lifelong personal growth and enduring recovery. With an emphasis on mentor-ship, group work, therapy, and coaching, Insight to Recovery provides a comprehensive range of treatment services that enable clients to holistically assess the source of their addictions and develop the necessary skills to achieve lasting sobriety.
Advocates for Insight & Hope will be community and school oriented and support students and their families through mentor-ship and communication, support for developing compassion and understanding of themselves and others.
I chose this career path because
I have a background in social work and education. I explored many different avenues career wise, prior to where I am today, but I was always drawn to a career where I helped people. My husband has been clean and sober for 39 years and he opened Insight to Recovery to help others. He asked me to be a part of his venture, and so I did! I love helping people and I realize that there is a need for a change to help students overcome peer pressure to fit in by doing drugs for example. I feel it is important to develop their self-esteem.
I prepared for this career by
I went to The University of Maryland and got my Bachelor of Science in Family Studies, learning about family and the dysfunctional and functional aspects of family. I am also certified as a Family Services Counselor through the Department of Children and Family.
The biggest challenge I've overcome
I sometimes find it challenging to balance work and family. Working with my husband is very rewarding, but at times can also be a challenge.
My greatest strength(s)
My strengths lie in my listening skills, my creativity, and my perseverance.
My greatest accomplishment to date
