About me

She has over 30 years experience in the health and wellness field. She has worked in the education field as a health and physical education instructor.  She has been a program director and trainer for various organizations that include the American Red Cross, the National Safety Council and the American Heart Association.

She is currently certified as a health and wellness and life coach by the American Association of Christian Counselors. She holds two degrees: one in education/psychology and one in emergency management.

She has had a variety of former employments that include: a federal contract investigator, an emergency management position with the American Red Cross, an instructor/coordinator for two colleges, and the owner of several small businesses to provide training using the DISC personality profiles. While she was with the American Red Cross, she was the Director for the shelter hub center during the Hurricane Rita evacuation, which later became an international model for disaster evacuation.

About my company

HealthPro Training & Wellness is a company that is dedicated to promoting excellence in training and service to others. It offers public seminars, workshops and in-house custom designed training. All are focused on the customer's health and wellness. It offers classes using the DISC Personality Profiles, and they are adapted for churches, education and businesses. The company has added a new branch to the company titled, "New Directions Seminars." This branch will mainly be offering seminars for women, that will focus on the spiritual side of women and their relationship with God.

I chose this career path because

She felt that with her background and many positions in education and church-related coaching, it was a good use of her skills and knowledge to continue with this business.

I prepared for this career by

She received a Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Administration and Management with a 3.99 GPA from Arkansas Tech University in 2005.  She also has a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education, and a minor in Psychology from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. She has recently become a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, and has taken several of their training courses, including life and wellness coaching.

 

The biggest challenge I've overcome

The biggest challenge she has overcome has been getting the business back up and going after being employed full-time with the federal government, and then being laid off, with only a one day's notice, at age 65.

My greatest strength(s)

Her greatest strengths are her people skills. She loves being around people, and has had much success in communicating with her audience.

My greatest accomplishment to date

Her greatest accomplishments are her children, ages 36 and 41, her marriage of 45 years, and her years of teaching in many different venues. With that, she would include being able to give back to people in a variety of ways.

My personal/professional goals

Her vision/professional goal is to be a Christian motivational speaker. 

What/Who has inspired me the most

Her inspiration comes from her husband of 45 years, as well as her close friends and family, who have supported her through the years.

I most want to be known/remembered for

She most wants to be remembered for the way she treated people, for her friendships, and for trying to do what God wanted her to do.

I participate in the following organizations/memberships

She participates with the American Association of Christian Counselors, the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce, the International Women's Leadership Association and WSA. She also participates in a women's group at church, both as a student and a facilitator.

I have received the following Honors/Awards/Scholarships

She has received many awards and honors over the years for her teaching and volunteer time with the American Red Cross, American Heart Association and the National Safety Council.

I support the missions of these charities/volunteer my time

She supports the missions of her church and The American Red Cross.

I enjoy the following hobbies/interests

In her spare time, she enjoys walking in the park with her husband and spending time with family and friends.
